Appliance Disposal

fridge

If you must dispose of your appliance curbside, through our trash contractor, AAA -- you must call them first and arrange for pickup.

Refrigerators, heat pumps, and other objects with freon in them will have a $75 pickup fee imposed, payable by the homeowner. Arrange to have your appliance put out for pickup not earlier than the dusk of the day before it will be picked up. If you are strong, and have access to a pickup truck, you may dispose of appliances in the landfill for a nominal fee.

Regular appliances (compactors, washers, etc.) will be picked up at no charge, but again, you must first arrange for the pickup with AAA and do not put the appliance out early.

Remember, whenever disposing of appliances curbside, to take off the doors so that they do not become a death trap for children who might crawl into them.

It really is far easier to have the old appliance removed at the time of delivery of your new appliance. Please think about that, and avoid the hassles of the hour or longer wait trying to get through to AAA, them not showing up when they say they will, etc. Even if it is not your fault that your appliance is not picked up, it is still your responsibility to get it off the streets until you can arrange for pick up. Your community and neighbors will appreciate this consideration. Besides, it is in our rules and you can be penalized for not doing so.
